Munich is a beautiful city. Traditional, elegant and simply quite wonderful.
Lets just say, it really knows how to present itself. If I had to tell you what you should do, having just 24h in Munich, I would probably say – lets go, we dont have much time!
Lets start with the way into town from the airport. When you come out, you can either take the S8 or the S1, both of which will take you straight into Munich City Center / Hauptbahnhof (main central station).
You ll probably need a hotel, and I have the perfect recommendation for you. My favourite hotel to book for other people that come and visit is currently the Ruby Lilly Hotel, 10 min walk away from the Main Station. Its very cool, very central and the bar is a real gem. The rooms are not really expensive, considering the location and you ll be super surprised on what they have to offer. (Btw, I am not getting anything out of this, I am just in love with this cute place.)
Maybe we should start drinking on Monday to get prepared for the weekend. After a quick drink at the bar, I say we head out and get some tradidional Bavarian food into you.
On the way there, perhaps you might want to stop, to get some nice Bavarian cosy jumpers or Munich Caps at Suck my Shirt maybe?
For dinner, I ve decided to take you to the Spezlwirtschaft. Its cool and the music is just as good as the food. Also, on the way to the place, you can enjoy the Marienplatz, where you cant miss our beautiful town hall!
Since Bavarian food is usually heavy and hearty, I suggest dancing the night away at one of the night clubs in Munich.
For everyone who does not feel like walking long distances, there is always Crux, just one floor down from the Spezlwirtschaft.
Should you be into harder techno beats, then the MMA is probably for you.
… and if you can dance until the morning hours, there is always the Electric Elephant for breakfast, right next door.
Now, if you are still up for some exploring the next day, I would encourage you to look at my favourite museums:
Admission on Sundays is 1 Euro, except specific exhibitions.
“It's like climbing a staircase. I'm on the top of the staircase, I look behind me and I see the steps. That's where I was.” Jeanne Moreau — At the beginning of a new week the great staircase in the Alte Pinakothek constructed by Hans Döllgast is a matching symbol. Have a great week! We are here for you in case you have to flee from the world. 😘 — Thanks @vivi___dangelo for the lovely photo! — #altepinakothek #pinakotheken #stairs #art #artlover #museum #museumvisit #munich #igersmunich #architecture #architecturalphotography #visiting #nofilter
Or just enjoy a walk through the city and take in the wonderful architecture down Maximilian Strasse, Marienplatz and Leopoldstrasse.
Also, with Mit Vergnügen München, you are always up to date on what is going on. I absolutely love their Instagram account.
Ok, thats it, I hope you have enjoyed following me around Munich on my Instagram!
